It takes a special person to purvey the genuine care and consideration a bride needs when shopping for her gown. Team BLISS arrives everyday with the excitement of helping our customers find the dress of their dreams. We host each bride with the intent of making their shopping experience with us a special moment they will always recall when thinking of their wedding day. Each customer is treated with the same respect and love we would expect for our own sister, daughter, mother or BFF.

Katie Ward, Owner

DSC_6062After shopping for her own gown, owner Katie wondered why a shop couldn’t carry the elegance and service of a couture boutique but offer affordable, yet still beautiful, wedding dresses. The idea of Bliss was born and in February of 2011 the Fairhope location opened. After serving Alabama brides for 4 years, Katie set her sights on bringing the idea of a blissful shopping experience to her second home, New Orleans. In the fall of 2017, she and the Bliss family opened their third location in Katie’s college hometown Hattiesburg, MS. Now her time is split between the three businesses and three cities she loves.

Katie majored in communications and minored in fashion merchandising at The University of Southern Mississippi. She earned her degree there in 2007. She lives between both cities with her husband Bill and son James Davis.

In 2015 and 2016, she served as an “Expert Panelist” at the VOW Bridal market at America’s Mart in Atlanta. As a panelist, Katie advised other bridal boutique owners about the benefits of social media, providing excellent service to brides and the importance of branding your business.

Our New Orleans brides work with the talented Amy Amos for fittings.

amyAmy studied Fashion Design and Construction at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Pratt University in New York City and has worked in a variety of professional settings, including ballet, film and television, and the ultimate in formal wear, Mardi Gras krewe courts. But Amy’s first sewing memory was grabbing the mysterious electric scissors as a three-year-old, when her mother had briefly stepped out of the room, and cutting a hole in her nightgown. Amy grew up learning professional dressmaking techniques under the tutelage of her mother, apprenticed under master seamstresses, and is a proud member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 478 as an artisan tradesperson.

In Fairhope, our seamstress Alexandria has dedicated her time and passion to alterations since she was a child. As a child, she watched her mother sew and knew that it would be her profession as well. As a teen she honed her craft and learned the art of alterations and design- now as an adult she lives a dream realized working with brides every day.  (Picture coming soon!)
