Alana offers a mermaid satin skirt with a heavily beaded, peek-a-boo bodice. The look is completed with a satin ribbon belt that ties in to a bow with jewel tipped streamers.

We just received this incredible Monique Lhuillier gown at the store.
We don’t normally consign gowns but this was so special, we had to have it! This Bridal Size 8, ivory, three piece dress includes a lace corset top, satin fitted skirt and satin belt. The original purchase price was quoted at nearly $7500, but it’s here at Bliss Bridal for $2500.00. Such a great steal for this high-end designer gown!

Rehearsal Dinners: Not just a formality

The details are set, the big day is near and all the out of town guests are here! Now it’s time to gather the family and let the wedding festivities commence… starting with the rehearsal dinner. Not just for the bridal party and close family members any more, the rehearsal dinner is quickly shifting to a welcome party that all wedding guests are invited to. This event, typically hosted by the groom’s family, is a great way to set the tone of the weekend and allow members from both sides to mingle in a more casual, comfortable setting. With the usually implied sophistication of a wedding, a couples inside jokes or hobbies sometimes take a backseat. A welcome dinner can have lots of that personality!

A barbecue or cookout is a great idea for a welcome dinner. Use brighter colors and patterns to lighten the mood and create a fun atmosphere. Inquire about having your photographer at the party as well. You’ll appreciate the professional photos when you look back.

Provide fun games like cornhole or over-sized checkers to create an icebreaker for guests who haven’t met yet.

Have family and friends write up their secrets to a happy marriage or funny anecdotes about the couple to be read aloud at the wedding. Set up a station with paper, pens and a box for the messages.

A welcome dinner is the perfect place to present your bridal party with their gifts and to thank everyone for attending the wedding. Since the wedding always tends to ”fly by” this event is a great platform for the couple to address their guests with loving sentiment.

The Juliet veil is back… and at Bliss Bridal!

While classic and traditional style will always hold a place in the bridal world, every year we embark on a new trend or look… in 2013 it’s all about the Juliet veil! Recently sported by Kate Moss when she married in 2011, the Juliet veil has been making its return every few decades since the 16th century. Most popularly related to the glamorous years of the 1920s and 1930s, the veil’s namesake actually originates from Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ when original drawings of Juliet depicted her wearing a cap that fit neatly to the top of her head. Since its popularisation in the 20s, some of the most chic and elegant women have chosen a version of the Juliet Cap veil for their big day, including Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy.

Today’s rendition of the iconic look is lending itself to a very bohemian chic style and can be seen gracing the front page of the Spring edition of ‘the knot’. It is perfect for a bride who isn’t afraid to take a risk and wants to bring a unique quality to her bridal look. The perfect wedding venue! One of the things you will think about after you’ve gotten engaged (beyond the dress of course) is finding your wedding venue. What should you look for in your reception site? Here are some tips:

1. A roomy fit to make sure the room can accommodate your guest list. Visit your venue while an event is going on, so you can get an idea of the room setup.

2. Privacy- insuring your wedding is the only highlighted event of the evening helps preserve how special the evening is for you and your groom!

3. Lighting – light can make, or break, the mood and the space

4. A great view is always a plus. If there is no view, look at the décor or architectural details of the space

5. Coordinating colors- the sight doesn’t have to be done in your exact colors but the walls, carpet, chairs, and curtains shouldn’t clash or conflict with your party’s mood or theme.

6. Ample outlets for your DJ or band and all the extra lighting you plan to bring in.

7. Good acoustics- if you’ve hired a videographer for the event work with them to avoid any sound issues that might occur because of the location.

8. Plenty of parking- No one likes to hunt for parking while they are focused on getting to your reception!
