For the past week, designers from all over came to Paris to showcase their spring 2019 Ready-to-Wear collections. And while Team Bliss was absolutely invited to sit front row (wink, wink) we opted to watch from home and recap our favorite looks for you.
Alexander McQueen: In Alexander McQueen’s spring 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection, they did what they do best: mixing femininity and fierceness. All of the looks had a warrior quality, yet a touch of vulnerability that empowers women.
Dries Van Noten: says that his 2019 Paris Fashion Week Collection is “Couture, but not in a retro way.” We completely agree with the artistic designer, it is one of his best collections! Dries Van Noten really captured the millennials style and attention with his clean edges and fun patterns.
Christian Dior: is Bliss’s top pick for the “Ready to Wear” 2018 Paris week fashion show. According to A-listers that had the privilege to view the show, there were modern dancers on the runway. The performers and models replicated the essence of the collection with their dark movement and threatening emotion. The theatrical atmosphere was described by Vogue as “a show within a show.”
Fall 2018 brides are redefining tradition with class- boasting vintage, outdoor venues, Old Hollywood glamour and minimal glitz. Boho is transitioning into a more polished chic style. Modern brides push boundaries, redefine color schemes and customization while going back to the basics for the upcoming season. Fall 2018 couples are all about taking risks to show their individual style. Here are a few highlights from the 2018 fall wedding movement…
Fresh FruitA little sweet to maximize sensory satisfaction. Create a citrus centerpiece with rich hues — or deep tones like pomegranates, grapes, or figs, for a natural arrangement upgrade. Stick to seasonal produce for vibrant and ripe fruit, you don’t want bruised fruit to blemish your look. PRO TIP: Include the same fruit in your spreads in your cocktail or reception menu for a multi-sensory experience. Try wine with cheese and fruit charcuterie for cocktail hour. Add in savory dishes for the reception, or yummy fruit pies for in lieu of a cake.
Minimalist Bridal Meghan Markle inspired clean lines and cathedral veils at her Royal Ceremony with Prince Harry in the Spring. Fall 2018 brides want simple, classy, modern styles. Whether it is a satin ball gown with a never ending train, or a high neck sheath gown with a vintage flare. This season is all about comfort and simplicity. Brides want a beautiful dress with the versatility to move and dance at the reception.
Outdoor Venues Bridal Barns and rustic shindigs aren’t going anywhere, but the modern bride opts for an outdoor venue, with simple elegant touches. Naturals, greens and deep wine hues will reign whether it’s underneath a 100 year old oak tree or shore side of a serene lake. Greenhouse and garden weddings have natural decor, which is perfect for the minimalist modern bride too.
Painterly PortraitsIn 2018, everyone can have high-quality wedding photographs edited to perfection, but capture time in timeless fashion with a hand painted portrait. Beautiful outdoor landscapes make for a picturesque background, or opt for a Victorian ballroom, with a traditional ball gown and romantic mid-century decor, for a romantic royal vibe.
Cocktails & CalligraphyElegantly poised place cards are chic and sophisticated, but create the perfect vibe as soon as your guests arrive with cocktails and calligraphy — serve a cocktail with a place card, at the entrance of the reception, with the guests name and their table number. PRO TIP: make sure the cocktail suits the tone of the event. A shot of tequila, for a taco inspired fiesta — for a more formal affair champagne, whiskey, or the couple’s signature drink.
Thinking Outside The BoxWedding venues are timeless and traditional, but modern brides are all about redefining traditions. As an alternative, try whisking away to the countryside in the United Kingdom, or the beach of Santorini. Modern brides are taking the term “Destination Wedding” to a new level. Couples taking this route, often have receptions after returning from the wedding destination. We love to see when they incorporate their destination in their reception theme- whether in the decor or in the cuisine.
Scaled Back BohoBoho was BIG in 2017, but now we are seeing it in small details. Textured elements and floral spreads make for a great touch of whimsical style, especially when paired with a minimalist bridal gown. A small dose goes a long way, when it comes to Boho in 2018.
More MinimalismLast year’s weddings were more about dramatic detail, this year we see a shift to more minimal structures and open environments. Natural elements and less detail make for a modern fall wedding. We will see a lot of earthy elements and natural color schemes this season.
Team Bliss is wishing all of our Fall 2018 Bliss Brides a beautiful wedding, memories that last a lifetime and a marriage that lasts through every season you weather.

We love Emilia Clarke in this black sheer lace dress by Dior. The floral embroidery adds a mix of dark and whimsical to the dramatic gown which was perfect for the “Game of Thrones” actress. The drop waist and pleating really elongates anyone with a petite frame! Shop our gown “Mae” by Justin Alexander for a similar style.
We loved Kristen Bell in this simplistic yet sleek Solace London gown. The square neckline gives off an effortless elegance that accentuates the collar bone and neckline. This fit and flare dress is form fitting in all the right ways! Shop our gown “Idina” by Justin Alexander for the look.
We are LIVING for this beautiful red gown by Justin Alexander seen at the Emmy’s this past Monday. The modern A-line gown is a flattering fit on every body and looks so glamorous on Paula Newsome. Plus, who could look away from this dreamy silk dupioni fabric that gives the perfect glow to every star! Shop our gown “Anastasia” by Justin Alexander for a similar look.
Issa Rae rocked this custom lightweight Vera Wang jumpsuit. We are so drawn to the intricate detailed bodice and plunging neckline. Even though she did not wear glass slippers she gave off a modern day Cinderella vibe! Shop our gown “Leighton” from our Bliss Bridal Collection for the style.
Jessica Biel is wearing this SHOWSTOPPER gown by Ralph & Russo. This strapless dress with geometrical lines is grabbing everyone’s attention. The romantic timeless look, so reminiscent of a bridal dream gown, brings her to the top of our list! Shop our gown “Pamela” by Justin Alexander for a similar look!
