Fall 2018 brides are redefining tradition with class- boasting vintage, outdoor venues, Old Hollywood glamour and minimal glitz. Boho is transitioning into a more polished chic style. Modern brides push boundaries, redefine color schemes and customization while going back to the basics for the upcoming season. Fall 2018 couples are all about taking risks to show their individual style. Here are a few highlights from the 2018 fall wedding movement…
Fresh Fruit A little sweet to maximize sensory satisfaction. Create a citrus centerpiece with rich hues — or deep tones like pomegranates, grapes, or figs, for a natural arrangement upgrade. Stick to seasonal produce for vibrant and ripe fruit, you don’t want bruised fruit to blemish your look. PRO TIP: Include the same fruit in your spreads in your cocktail or reception menu for a multi-sensory experience. Try wine with cheese and fruit charcuterie for cocktail hour. Add in savory dishes for the reception, or yummy fruit pies for in lieu of a cake.
Minimalist Bridal Meghan Markle inspired clean lines and cathedral veils at her Royal Ceremony with Prince Harry in the Spring. Fall 2018 brides want simple, classy, modern styles. Whether it is a satin ball gown with a never ending train, or a high neck sheath gown with a vintage flare. This season is all about comfort and simplicity. Brides want a beautiful dress with the versatility to move and dance at the reception.
Outdoor Venues Bridal Barns and rustic shindigs aren’t going anywhere, but the modern bride opts for an outdoor venue, with simple elegant touches. Naturals, greens and deep wine hues will reign whether it’s underneath a 100 year old oak tree or shore side of a serene lake. Greenhouse and garden weddings have natural decor, which is perfect for the minimalist modern bride too.
Painterly Portraits In 2018, everyone can have high-quality wedding photographs edited to perfection, but capture time in timeless fashion with a hand painted portrait. Beautiful outdoor landscapes make for a picturesque background, or opt for a Victorian ballroom, with a traditional ball gown and romantic mid-century decor, for a romantic royal vibe.
Cocktails & Calligraphy Elegantly poised place cards are chic and sophisticated, but create the perfect vibe as soon as your guests arrive with cocktails and calligraphy — serve a cocktail with a place card, at the entrance of the reception, with the guests name and their table number. PRO TIP: make sure the cocktail suits the tone of the event. A shot of tequila, for a taco inspired fiesta — for a more formal affair champagne, whiskey, or the couple’s signature drink.
Thinking Outside The Box Wedding venues are timeless and traditional, but modern brides are all about redefining traditions. As an alternative, try whisking away to the countryside in the United Kingdom, or the beach of Santorini. Modern brides are taking the term “Destination Wedding” to a new level. Couples taking this route, often have receptions after returning from the wedding destination. We love to see when they incorporate their destination in their reception theme- whether in the decor or in the cuisine.
Scaled Back Boho Boho was BIG in 2017, but now we are seeing it in small details. Textured elements and floral spreads make for a great touch of whimsical style, especially when paired with a minimalist bridal gown. A small dose goes a long way, when it comes to Boho in 2018.
More Minimalism Last year’s weddings were more about dramatic detail, this year we see a shift to more minimal structures and open environments. Natural elements and less detail make for a modern fall wedding. We will see a lot of earthy elements and natural color schemes this season.
